Care and Repair - Torfaen
Care & Repair Torfaen aims to enable older and disabled homeowners in Torfaen to remain at home in greater comfort, warmth and security.
We are a non-profit making home improvement service to older or disabled people within the borough.
Care & Repair Torfaen appreciates that arranging to have home improvements carried out is sometimes not an easy process. Therefore our small, caring, friendly team will offer free advice on what help is available, ensuring you get the service you deserve from everyone involved.
What Care & Repair Torfaen can do for you...
Care & Repair works in conjunction with Health and Local Authorities as well as a number of agencies on different initiatives, and can make referrals on your behalf. We may also be able to access funding from other sources towards the cost of repairs or adaptations.
Our current schemes include:
They are able to supply and fit security features such as locks, peepholes and door chains etc. up to the value of £120. This service is free of charge, however, they are a charitable organisation and therefore welcome a donation towards the cost of the work if you would like to make one.
The Fire Service will call and carry out a safety check for fire hazards within your home, give advice and supply and fit up to 2 smoke alarms free of charge.
We can refer people who are 60 or over and those who are disabled or chronically sick. To qualify, you must also be in receipt of one or more of the following benefits:
The Handyperson scheme is available for small jobs around the home i.e. fitting light bulbs, repair fencing, repair dripping taps etc.
They do not charge a call out fee but there is a reasonable charge for the work done. They will give you a quote for the work beforehand if you prefer.
Age Concern can also carry out a Welfare Benefits check for clients to ensure you are receiving all of the benefits you are entitled to. They can also help you complete forms for any new benefits they feel you could be entitled to.Left hand page content
