How We Work

Everyone at Melin recognises the importance of working as one team.  

The corporate management team consists of the Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive and three directors. Together they manage and maintain all of the teams that make up Melin Homes.

This team is different to all the others as it generally deals with internal matters.  It makes sure that the organisation runs according to the guidelines set out by our governing bodies, that all staff are properly trained, and tries to ensure that the offices run efficiently and effectively.

Development Team


This department is responsible for the development and re-development of properties for rent or sale.  This includes buying the land, arranging funding, finding the contractors and then monitoring the works when on site.  The team also provides a unique service which allows you to remain in your home should you fall into difficulties with your mortgage.

Finance


This department is responsible for all of Melin's money.  The team calculates and collects tenants' rent, deals with debt recovery, produces the accounts and budgets, provides extensive financial support to internal departments, and pays suppliers and contractors and staff.

Marketing and Communications


This department coordinates and produces all of Melin's communication and marketing materials. The team is responsible for looking after the website, producing publications including our residents newsletter 'Fresh', writing press releases, coordinating advertisements and organising events.

Business Improvement


This department is responsible for investigating improvements that can be made to the organisation to make it more efficient and to improve Melin's delivery of customer service.

Customer Services

This department is dedicated to all aspects of work relating to the properties that Melin owns and contains the housing and asset management teams.

Asset Management

This department manages our repairs team. They assess any repairs that residents and tenants may have and ensure they are carried out to a high standard. We also have our own direct workforce who are responsible for gas, plumbing, decorating and electrical works in our residents' homes.  The team is also heavily involved in the GENuS consortium which is working towards achieving savings for the whole organisation.

Office Management


This department ensures that all of Melin's offices run smoothly.  The team's activities include purchasing equipment, booking meetings and reviewing policies and procedures.

IT


This department is responsible for Melin's network and maintains all of the organisation's computers to ensure that everyone can do their jobs as efficiently as possible.

HR


This department maintains all of Melin's records about staff and also coordinate all job adverts.



Care & Repair Torfaen and Monmouthshire


The Care & Repair Agencies, hosted by Melin, provide a free comprehensive home improvement and advisory service by working with other organisations throughout Torfaen and Monmouthshire.

The agencies' main purpose is to help home-owners and private tenants who are older or disabled stay in their home with increased comfort and security.  They do this by either arranging repairs or adaptations to be carried out to your home or advising on such works.
