Local SME Gibson STS up-skill, thanks to partnership working
We have excellent collaborative working relations with local small and medium sized enterprises.

We have recently helped a local company put staff on a Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management (Edexcel). Working closely with Bridgend based contractor Gibson STS it became apparent by our Learning team that it would benefit the company and the contracts they work on to upskill staff.

Karen Green, Principal Learning and Development Officer at Melin and an expert in training and funding organised a meeting between the company and Coleg Y Cymoedd.

Thanks to the Upskilling@Work programme, supported by the European Social Fund through Welsh Government the course has been funded by 70%.

Peter Williams, Senior Technical Manager at Gibson STS who has just started the course said “This is a great opportunity to educate the team, it will give us a different perspective and help us manage tasks more effectively.”

Karen Green, Melin Homes Said “This is a great opportunity for companies to upskill. Funding through programmes like this is so important not only for individual progression but for the development of small and medium enterprises.”
