Melin Works and CHC

Our employment service Melin Works and Community Housing Cymru (CHC) have teamed to provide training and job opportunities in south east Wales. CHC became an Agored Cymru accredited Centre in February 2016 which enables the organisation to accredit training delivered by its Welsh housing associations. Melin Homes was the first member to sign up and register its learners with CHC. Adele Harries-Nicholas, Community Housing Cymru’s Member Services and Business Development Manager, said: ‘We have been working with a number of members to add value for money to the training that they offer, and we’re delighted that Melin Homes was the first member to sign up for our accredited training. We look forward to continuing the good work we’ve already started with Melin Homes.’

Four Melin residents; Clair, Rebecca, Tracey and Lauren attended the Melin offices for a Level 1 course in work-related education. This is the first course delivered by Melin Works and was done in partnership with CHC. After completing the course they were presented with their awards at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff last week at CHC’s Resource Conference. Lauren could not attend the presentation as she has found work since doing the qualification, but Clair, Rebecca and Tracey all enjoyed an inspirational talk delivered by world champion canoeist and six time gold medallist Anna Hemmings MBE.

Stuart Baldwin, Head of the Melin Works team said; “This is an exciting new partnership with CHC meaning more potential opportunities for our residents. Any residents looking for job and training opportunities can contact the Melin Works team on 01495 745910 or email melinworks@melinhomes.co.uk”.
