How to pay your rent

Methods for paying rent



Direct Debit                                                                             

This is the easiest and most hassle free method of paying your rent, where Melin deduct a previously agreed amount of rent directly from your bank account.  Melin must inform you at least 14 days before the amount is to be taken of any changes to the amount.  You can choose to pay by monthly or weekly direct debit.  If you wish to set up a direct debit, please contact a member of the Finance team.  A form will be sent to you to complete, providing us with your bank details and authorisation for us to deduct your payment from your bank account.


Standing Order

A Standing Order involves you making arrangements for your bank to pay your rent directly into our bank account.  Melin cannot alter the amount of this payment.  Therefore, if you wish to alter the payment you must contact your bank directly.  If you wish to set up a standing order, please contact a member of the Finance team.  A form will be sent to you to complete, which you must then forward to your bank to instruct them to pay the agreed amount into our account on the specified date.


Swipe Card

When you start your tenancy with Melin, you are provided with a swipe card that you can use to pay your rent at any Post Office® and various local shops.  If you require a new card, please contact a member of the Finance team.


Internet Banking

If you have access to internet banking, you can also pay directly via your bank's website.  To do this, you will need to provide our bank details and your tenant reference so we can identify your payment.  If you require our bank details, please contact a member of our Finance team.


Telephone Banking

You can ring 0870 2436040 and pay your rent via an automated telephone service.  You will need your Allpay swipe card available when paying by this method.


Office Payments

You can visit our office in Pontypool and make a cash or cheque payment at reception.  Alternatively you can send a cheque in the post to: Melin Homes, Ty'r Efail, Lower Mill Field, Pontypool, Torfaen, NP4 0XJ.  If you pay by cheque, please write you name and address on the back of the cheque so we can credit the correct account with the appropriate payment.


Telephone our Office

You can contact any member of the Housing team who will take your rent payment over the phone.  You will need a debit or credit card available when paying by this method.


Pay Online

You can pay your rent online via Allpay.  You will need your Allpay swipe card available when paying your rent by this method.  Please click here to access the Allpay website.
