This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and we caught up with Julie, Chair of our Board who has kindly shared her mental health journey.
We were pleased as punch to be able to hold our first in-person Zest Fest health and wellbeing event for the first time since 2019…and what an event it was.We take the health and wellbeing of our staff very seriously at Melin and value our dedicated initiative, Zest more than ever.During the pandemic we moved all our Zesty perks for staff online but with restrictions a thing of the past (we hope it stays like that) we couldn’t wait to get back to a real-life event. Our staff are gifted the time to attend a morning of all-things wellbeing hosted by our partners at Pontypool Active Living Centre.
On Tuesday 8 March we will once again be proudly celebrating International Women’s Day. The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘Break the Bias.’ This theme calls on organisations and individuals across the world to act proactively to put an end to gender bias, stereotyping and discrimination.
We have been re-awarded the Gold and Platinum Corporate Health Standard from the Welsh Government. The Corporate Health Standard is part of the Welsh Governments ‘Healthy Working Wales’ programme and is the national mark of quality for health and well-being in the workplace.
All our Maintenance Team who are out and about in the communities we serve are supporting White Ribbon Day to say ‘no’ to violence against women. The White Ribbon Promise states to never commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women. Our staff will wear white ribbons on their vans throughout the rest of November to raise awareness with residents and have information on hand about where people can get help or pledge their promise.
