Christmas came early to five Rhondda Cynon Taf schools with a delivery of IT equipment worth over £20,000 thanks to Welsh Government’s Warm Homes, Arbed project.The project delivered by Melin Homes Being Greener team invested £5.5 million improving the energy efficiency of over 320 homes. The team has fitted external wall insulation in homes saving families around £250 off their annual fuel bills.

The schools included were Hirwaun Primary School, St Margaret's RC Primary, Cwmbach Church in Wales Primary School, Ynysboeth Community Primary School, and Caegarw Primary School.

Pupils from St Margaret’s School Council said: “We are really happy because it will help to make our class work more fun.”The donation of iPads came as part of the project’s Community Benefits package which means that for every pound invested £2 has been generated for the Welsh economy.

Mr Thomas, Head teacher of Cwmbach Church in Wales Primary, who hosted the celebration event said: “The children will very much enjoy using the iPads for their research and all the various literacy and numeracy apps available. For my part as head teacher, this donation will enable me to make our ICT budget stretch significantly further and allow us to invest in a range of other ICT equipment."
Local AM Christine Chapman said: “Importantly, the scheme has delivered real benefits to our communities, such as the presentation of iPads to five schools within Rhonda Cynon Taf and its engagement with children on the importance of energy efficiency.
