Using the power of rugby to connect with our communities

Melin’s goal is to ‘create opportunities for people and communities to thrive’ and working with community sporting organisations such as Dragons RFC Community is key to helping us achieve that. As part of the renewed partnership, Dragons RFC Community will:

  • Run several community and outreach skills days on behalf of Melin to benefit Melin families
  • Run several skills days at schools in Melin communities
  • Provide places for young Melin residents to attend Dragons RFC holiday skill camps
  • Help Melin to run its hugely successful and popular Zest in the Park family fun day once again in summer 2023 as well as our presence at the annual Party in the Park
  • Run several sporting memories sessions for our sheltered scheme residents
  • Welcome Melin staff and their children to Rodney Parade as part of the pre-match guard of honour

In addition to these fantastic community activities, Melin will feature prominently on Dragons RFC branding throughout the 2022/23 season, reinforcing our important role in communities across the Dragons RFC region in south east Wales.

Paula Kennedy, Melin Homes CEO, was pleased to continue Melin’s partnership with Dragons Community. She said: “Rugby is part of the heart and soul of south Wales and so we’re thrilled to continue our important community work with Dragons RFC.

“Mike Sage and the Dragons RFC Community team have been fantastic for us, engaging with our residents at a number of events and providing some fun and memorable experiences for our young people. We’re excited to be working with them in the year ahead and wish all of the Dragons RFC sides all the very best for the 2022/23 season!”

Mike Sage, Dragons RFC Community Manager, was also pleased to be working with Melin once again. He said: “Melin Homes have been an amazing long-term community partner, who share our passion and pride in supporting our local communities through inspiring community engagements.

“Our partnership allows us to positively impact on thousands of people’s lives every year and provide opportunities that would otherwise would not be possible. Over the years, our partnership has gone from strength-to-strength and we have developed a quality working relationship with Melin staff, who are very much part of or Dragons Family. As Melins’ strapline states: ‘Together We Can’ – and together we certainly do!”
