Melin Homes and E.ON

Melin Homes has today announced the signing of a pioneering agreement with energy company E.ON that will bring additional funding in order to provide energy saving measures to Welsh homes in the south and west regions.

This agreement with E.ON is the first of its kind for Melin Homes and will mean a potential investment of millions of pounds to help fund the provision of external wall insulation and other energy efficiency work to several thousand homes over the next 18 months.

Nigel Dewbery, Head of Energy Efficiency at E.ON, added: “Energy saving schemes like this bring real benefits to communities; not only to the thousands of people whose homes will be more comfortable and more affordable to heat, but also to the small businesses in Wales that will be working alongside us. “Working with Melin Homes gives us a wealth of local knowledge and because the work will be done predominantly by local people, for the people of Wales, we are able to make sure the investment has a wider benefit beyond the people whose homes we help to improve.”

Mark Gardner, Chief Executive, Melin Homes said: “This is fantastic news and allows Melin Homes to continue to make a positive impact to people’s lives and the communities they live in. It not only saves residents money and improves their homes; it will also help local businesses and create jobs.”

David Bolton, Assistant Director of Melin’s Being Greener business unit, said: “This is the first ECO contract of this type for any Housing Association in Wales. Carbon emissions will be reduced and thousands more households will benefit from energy efficiency improvements including external wall insulation. We are delighted to be working with E.ON.”
