Opening of Clos Castell

We officially opened our Clos Castell development, with an additional 10 homes in Llangynidr last week. The development was officially opened by AM for Brecon and Radnorshire Kirsty Williams, alongside Leader of Powys Council Barry Thomas, Councillor Rosemary Harris, and Melin Homes Chief Executive Mark Gardner. Melin worked in partnership with Powys Council and the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority to develop the site which was built by R and M Williams. The site comprises of six 3 bed and four 2 bed houses and is a mixture of rental and shared equity purchases.

Chief Executive Mark Gardner; “The development is a great example of how we can all work together to bring much needed rural housing for local people in this beautiful part of the world. We are passionate about providing chances for people to live in the communities they are from and the quality finished product speaks volumes to the great work that has gone into the homes.”

Kirsty Williams AM said; "I was very proud to open Clos Castell because I don’t see these as just homes, but life chances. My surgeries, emails and letters are full of people needing affordable rural housing and it’s great to be able to open a development that provides these vital life chances to my constituents."

Cllr Thomas said of the development; “Bringing such developments from planning to finished homes is never easy and takes team work between all forms of Government, housing associations like Melin and local people. I am delighted to see the end product of that work and want to thank Melin for bringing more affordable homes for local people to Powys.”
