Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Residents, volunteers and staff at Melin have had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas this year out and about in our communities. Santa and the Melin elves have visited residents young and old across south east Wales to spread Christmas cheer, sing carols, give out treats and much more throughout December 2023.

We have visited 12 Melin neighbourhoods over the last few weeks giving out some early Christmas presents to hundreds of children on Santa’s sleigh bus. We have also visited 11 Melin sheltered schemes, running festive socials for the residents there, who were all in fine voice for our marathon caroling sessions!

54 Melin staff were involved in helping with the Christmas visits and wrapping Christmas gifts for residents. We would like to say a special thank you to our Communities Team who organise our busy schedule of Christmas events and have brought joy to so many people over this last month.

We would also like to thank David Egan from our Melin Voices group. David assisted with 5 visits as a volunteer and it is fantastic to have involvement from our residents group during our Christmas programme.

We are also very grateful to the partners and sponsors who supported our Christmas events. We would like to thank Morris’ of Usk for providing 6 large fresh turkeys, International Greetings for their donation of reams of wrapping paper and TMS, Evolve and Dulux who supported us with the purchase of selection boxes for children. We could not have done it without your support – thank you all.

Our Communities Team are always keen for feedback about which neighbourhoods Santa can visit next year so if you want to let us know, you can send us an email:

We would like to take this opportunity to wish our residents, staff and volunteers a very merry Christmas and a happy new year for 2024!
