Residents at some of our sheltered schemes have been enjoying visits from some Santa Paws Pets as Therapy dogs in the run-up to Christmas. The four-legged friends are visiting people living in our sheltered schemes across Torfaen Monmouthshire, Newport and Blaenau Gwent this month.
The first playful pup visited Victoria Court in Abergavenny on December 4th and residents relished the chance to give pet Poodle Rudy cwtches. The power of a wet nose and fuzzy face brought smiles all around. Pets As Therapy animals are often used to bring a sense of calm and comfort and Rudy definitely did that!

Ann Phillips said: “I used to have pets; dogs, cats, chickens, even a pig once, so it has been lovely to have the dog visit. I miss the companionship of a dog. You can talk and they don’t answer back.”
Melin Chief Executive Paula Kennedy said: “The festive season can be a stressful time for some so this is a lovely addition to our scheme social events.”
