Our new development at Bakery Close

We have officially opened phase 2 of our Bakery Close development, with an additional 13 homes in Talywain, Pontypool. The development was officially opened by MP for Torfaen Nick Symonds-Thomas, alongside Mayor of Torfaen Giles Davies, Torfaen Council Exec Member for Housing Gwyneira Clark, and Melin Homes Chief Executive Mark Gardner. Melin Homes worked in partnership with Torfaen County Borough Council to develop the site which was built by Blaenavon based P&P Builders. The site comprises of 8x1 bed Flats, four 2 bed houses and one 2 bed bungalow.

Chief Executive Mark Gardner; “Official openings of our developments give us a chance to bring together all the different people we need to make them happen and celebrate the team effort. It brings me great pleasure to bring yet more high quality homes to the north of Torfaen.”

Mr Symonds-Thomas said; “I was very proud to open Bakery Close, a fine example of what can be achieved by people working together in partnership towards a common goal of providing quality housing: including the Welsh Government, Torfaen CBC, Melin Homes, and a local developer, P&P Building Contractors.”

Mayor Davies said of the development; “Bakery Close is that extra bit special to me as it’s in my ward and in the heart of that community. In my experience Melin means good quality homes across Torfaen and these homes are no different. It was great to be able to officially open the scheme.”

Councillor Clark said; “Melin Homes is a key partner in the delivery of Torfaen’s Housing Strategy and for Mayor Davies and myself it is especially pleasing to see these new homes come to our ward. Developments like this highlight how working in collaboration is essential in ensuring housing needs are met across Torfaen and long may that continue”.
