Victoria Avenue opening

We have officially opened our Victoria Avenue development, with an additional 15 homes for Ebbw Vale. The development was officially opened by Welsh Government Minister with responsibility for housing Lesley Griffiths, alongside Alun Davies AM, Mayor Derrick Bevan and Melin Homes Chief Executive Mark Gardner. Working in partnership with Blaenau Gwent Council, we've developed the site which was built by KW Bell. The site comprises of 10 two-bed flats and three two-bed houses and three two-bed houses and is a mixture of rental and shared equity purchases. Chief Executive Mark Gardner said; “With the Minister opening the site, it brought together all the different members that make the team needed to build these homes. Victoria is a great example of the essential partnership working needed; between Welsh Government, Melin Homes, Blaenau Gwent and builders like KW Bell to deliver more much needed social housing in Wales.”

Lesley Griffiths, Minister with responsibility for housing, said: “Increasing the availability of affordable homes is one of my key priorities. I am pleased the Welsh Government has been able to support the Victoria Avenue development with funding of over £900,000. “This fantastic scheme has not only created high-quality family homes but also supported the local economy and created job opportunities for local people. I would like to congratulate all of the partners involved in making this development possible and wish residents much happiness in their new homes.”

Richard Crook, Corporate Director for Environment and Regeneration at Blaenau Gwent Council said; “Meeting the housing needs and aspirations of our communities couldn’t be met without the excellent partnership working that we have in place with local housing associations. We are fortunate to have a long-standing partnership with Melin Homes who are committed to investing and building communities in Blaenau Gwent."
